When To Schedule A Visit

Obviously, if the system won’t power on at all, there’s a problem. Typically, this is an electrical issue, such as a broken wire. If it does come on but cools intermittently and/or you don’t hear/feel the compressor come on, that component may be failing. When the system works as it should without producing cold enough air, it may be low on refrigerant and need a recharge. While this is normal occasionally, needing frequent recharges indicates a leak that we’ll need to repair. Watch for puddling water or wet carpet under the dash, an indicator of a clog that’s allowing overflow into the passenger cabin. Finally, a musty, wet odor when you turn on the A/C likely points to mold or mildew in the ducts. You shouldn’t continue breathing this, so we’ll need to clean it for you.
